****Tottenham Hotspur v BVB********* OMT Official

Some quality performances today, especially Xavi and Odobert. I thought Gray and Bergvall were pushing the ball into Simon's and wingers quickly so we broke better.

I thought Danso being more no nonsense bought a bit of balance just clearing the ball when needed.

However, I hope Muani is dropped. So poor from him when he came on. Scarlett or another youngster deserve the chance there
Only took Palhinha, Bentancur, Sarr, Bissouma and Gallagher being unavailable for Bergvall to get a game in the kind of position that got him the player of the season award last year.

Hopefully it won't be the last time we see him play there. Though I thought the biggest difference was just more attacking intent overall in that opening 20 minutes.

I'm all for giving players time. Muani has a lot of quality. But this isn't good enough.

More of those types of performances then I think majority of the fans will back TF. We do have a good squad, just need to treat it like one.

Indeed. I am far from a fan of his, but if he has them playing like this every week (well I know thats not feasible) then I will back him.

If play like this but lose because the other team played better I can like with that, but I cannt accept limp displays most weeks

Still not clinical up front. Great to see previously peripheral players looking like they belong. Xavi, Gray, Bergvall, Danso, Spence, Odobert…all played really well. Still need more accuracy in the final third. Weight of pass. Crossing behind the striker, shooting off target, we need to improve that somehow.

Romero wasted in defence?

No complaints, well deserved win, took the early chance and then controlled and closed it out. You could argue 6 or 7 easily for MOTM.
Good choices by Frank, and I don’t think the red card changed it, I think we were well on top anyway, we made Dortmund second best.

Raises the question why our home European form is so much better than our PL home form… who knows 🤷🏻‍♂️

Either way, good, well deserved win.

I think it’s just psychological. A) we won the Europa League last year but finished 17th in the league, so we have more confidence in Europe. And B) the fans are more excited on a European night and so are more positive and supportive from the off.

This forum always has endless debates about whether the manager is brick or the players are brick, but personally I think that massively underestimates the psychological factor in all of this. And tonight is clear evidence of that IMO.

Just desperately hope we can build on this with a win vs Burnley.

It's an ok squad but we need our first choice attackers to be more available than they have been
Obviously that helps. But look at Odobert in that first half when we managed to set him up in good positions.

Bergvall with just about zero minutes in one of the deeper midfield roles before this game. Did he look like a player that can't cope with a role like that while also adding quality on the ball? Even partnered with the equally young Gray it worked rather well.

Simons when we're actually able to set him up in some pockets of space.

Not as good as the first choice players, but these aren't bad players. But give them bad service and they'll end up looking rather bad.

To be honest, I was looking forward to seeing Bergvall start in his proper position. He is just so good there, a proper energetic midfielder that moves the ball.

I said before the game it looked at interesting midfield 5, and they were brilliant

But we could see today what Xavi can do when we have people wanting to run past the back line.

It's the same with Madison, you need those players to make those runs, and they will find them.

Part of that is coincidence. Looking at home and away games. Villarreal was a bit of a stinker of a game that could have gone either way. We were second best against Bodø Glimt and Monaco, but got points in both. Then two rather poor teams (by this standard) in Slavia and Copenhagen.
