Should be our biggest priority come the summer, imo along with a dribbly winger, but the latter one somewhat dependent on what happens with Odobert, Moore and I guess maybe Tel?

If we could sign only one established, slots right in, somewhat experienced player that 6 role would be it.

GK - Vic, Kinsky, Austin, with Keeley & Gunter on loan
CB's - Romero, Danso, Dragusin, VDV, Davies with Phillips, Dorrington & Vuskovich on loan
RB - Spence, Porro
LB - Udogie
CM - Gray, Sarr, Bissouma, Bentancur
AM - Maddison, Bergvall, Deki
LW - Son, Wilson, Moore
RW - Johnson with Yang on loan
CF - Solanke, Richi, Tel (?)

The gaps are hugely obvious
- LB & RW

The areas for change are pretty obvious as well
- One of Bissouma/Bentancur likely to be moved on, so will need to be replaced
- We probably need to reconsider Richi (just can't stay fit), so will need to be replaced
- If we don't keep Tel, there needs to be more work on long term replacement of Son
- If Romero moves on (we would need a good offer), he would have to be replaced as well.

The big questions are can we get a focus on a few more senior heads in, will the manager use a more DM type player (So do we have to find), what is Maddison's role in the future?

Agreed and think it's probably natural in the summer to focus on a small number of players that are thought to be more ready made.

We need a DM that's also a deep playmaker type imo. A traditional destroyer that's not good on the ball won't work.

Bissouma one I had thought might be one a while ago.
There was the incident last summer which meant we banned him from the opening game.
About to go into the last year of his contract.
£7.5m will be his book value so anything above that will be profit. Should sell for £20-25m.
Both him and Saar will be at AFCON over the busy Christmas period, might be deemed a risk to carry both next season with that happening. Fully well know they’d be the only non injured midfielders but on international duty if we kept both.

Solomon and probably Davies too.

I think Richie might end up staying because we won't get a suitable offer for him.

I'd cash in on Maddison too and bring Donley back as Kulu's cover/rotation.

I can't dance with that really, if we could keep Richarlson fit i would keep him but that looks unlikely.

Did we pay £30m for him?
Just checked and it was £25m plus add on up to £10m according to sky
So likely around £30m now

The long term replacement for son is Moore and Odebert
The lack of a ready made right wing option for Johnson is an issue
Left back has been a glaring problem but DJed has covered it up sublimely

Interestingly I see them as potential long term wingers but Tel is probably closer to a direct Son type player.

Spence gives us a great option until one of Porro/Udogie goes out for a long period, so still a backup needed there.

RW is a spot for an interesting upgrade will creating more depth (if you keep Johnson as squad)

We ain’t getting rid of Johnson. That’s 20 goals to find
We do need an alternative though
Moore at youth level (limited time encase of his quick elevation) was a goal scoring runner.
Have to remember what son is it your replacing. Winger son or wide forward son
 
The problem will be that we have built a squad for domestic AND UEFA competitions, and we may not have the latter. This will have pretty significant consequences on the squad composition.

I agree with the departure list - Whiteman, Forster, Davies, Reggie, Bissouma, Gil, Richi, Solomon, Werner. That feels about right, plus some younger players like Craig, Robson etc.

I also wonder whether we might see our first "highly rated youngsters" leave. Someone like Alfie Devine maybe. The first frustrated youngster having completed the loans and ready for first team action but having the path blocked with no UEFA football. Perhaps Ashley Phillips for the same reason, seeing Danso coming in and with us unable to move on Dragusin until a later window.

I'm also thinking we may see loans for one or both of Yang and Moore, to make sure they get first team football.

We really need to win this EL and get back to plan A of having UEFA every season.

Yeah, if we don't get Europe we'll need to arrange a lot of loans for the kids.
I've seen it said that you need a successful loan at League One level and then the following year a decent loan at Championship level, to prove you are ready i.e. not just jumping from League One to Prem as the manager won't really trust you.
So it is likely lots of kids will need to go through that process. Many players try several Championship loans before they make it in the Prem.
Not sure whether the management see Westerlo as League One or Championship level.

Even if we get europe we should arrange loans for the kids. They learn nothing being squad filler.

Gray and Bergvall the opposite, so you dont know, if the pathway is there. Backing Donley to replace Maddison, or Vuscovic to replace Davies could be the absolute making of them

Not disagreeing re Gray & Bergvall but lets be clear, outside of the worse injury crisis any football club has seen in a decade or so, they wouldn't have seen have the game time they have.

Could see Vuskovich getting time, would it be enough? And if we opt to replace Bissouma, Richi, Davies and maybe Maddison, we would need a few more Danso/Solanke types, need for experience would become critical
